Dit heeft niet alleen ontelbare boekverfilmingen als gevolg &#8211; en wel met een zeer wisselend kwaliteitsniveau &#8211; maar ook met ontzettend veel copycats waarvan er maar zelden \u00e9\u00e9n is die erin slaagt om de meester te evenaren. Het woord &#8220;overtreffen&#8221; gebruiken we niet eens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zeer verschillend en origineel is <em>You Can&#8217;t Kill Stephen King <\/em>van het trio Ronnie Khalil, Monroe Mann en Jorge Vald\u00e9s-Iga. De keuze valt op Monroe&#8217;s vakantiehuisje dat aan een meer ligt waarvan vermoed wordt dat niemand minder dan Stephen King er in de buurt van woont. Voor Ronnie een buitenkansje want net als Annie Wilkes uit <em>Misery<\/em> beschouwt hij zich als een fan die alles weet over zijn idool en er alles voor over heeft om hem te ontmoeten. Eens gearriveerd blijken de dorpsbewoners minder tuk te zijn op hun beroemde inwoner en houden daarom bij iedere vraag waar de man uithangt de lippen stijf op elkaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Voor we het weten ontaardt <em>You Can&#8217;t Kill Stephen King<\/em> in een echte slasher en nog wel met technieken zoals die omschreven zijn in Kings bestsellers. Op het hoesje van de dvd die is uitgebracht door Razor Reel in samenwerking met Zeno Pictures zie je het<em> Cujo<\/em>, <em>It<\/em>, <em>The Shining<\/em> en <em>Christine<\/em>. Kortom de meest iconische van King&#8217;s verfilmingen. Wat overblijft is een leuke horrorkomedie die wel eens uit de bocht durft te gaan en een mix biedt van brave gore en de nodige seksgrapjes. <em>You Can&#8217;t Kill Stephen King<\/em> is zeker geen hoogvlieger, maar een mooi bewijs dat wie niet over een budget beschikt, maar wel over een inventief brein best wel met een leuke en originele film op de proppen kan komen.
