Wie wel tegen een 8-tal harige poten kan, zal waarschijnlijk eerder gecharmeerd dan verstijfd de zaal uitkruipen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De 12-jarige Charlotte woont met haar familie in een oud appartementsgebouw waar ze graag ronddwaalt in het ventilatiesysteem. Wanneer ze tijdens een dooltocht een mooie spin ontdekt, besluit ze om het beestje te houden als huisdier. Wat Charlotte niet weet is dat haar nieuwe huisdier een buitenaards wezen is dat via een komeet in het wooncomplex is beland. Zijn magere verhaallijn lijkt rechtstreeks uit een B-film te zijn genomen. Schrijver en regisseur Kiah Roache-Turner probeert wat diepgang te brengen aan de hand van een familiaal nevenplot, maar die poging is op zijn zachtst onderontwikkeld te noemen. Gelukkig is de creature feature zelfbewust genoeg om plezier te maken met zijn premisse. De humor treft zijn doel meer dan dat ze mis schiet en wanneer deze genreprent stil lijkt te vallen, wordt de snelheid boemeltrein-gewijs weer opgedreven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ook op de kalmere momenten verveelt\u00a0<em>Sting<\/em>\u00a0niet noodzakelijk. De film bevat een reeks aan kleurrijke, cartooneske personages die tot leven worden gebracht door een adequate cast. Het is vooral aan de piepjonge Alyla Browne om de film te dragen en dat doet ze glansrijk.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/fastforwardfilm.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Sting-still-4-5-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Sting\" class=\"wp-image-32820\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fastforwardfilm.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Sting-still-4-5-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fastforwardfilm.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Sting-still-4-5-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fastforwardfilm.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Sting-still-4-5-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fastforwardfilm.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Sting-still-4-5-585x390.jpg 585w, https:\/\/fastforwardfilm.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Sting-still-4-5.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">STING (c) KFD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Veel van zijn aantrekkingskracht ligt in het onderhouden&nbsp;productieontwerp. Hoewel de dynamische beelden soms aan de donkere kant zijn, worden ze door een soepele en speelse montage naar onbekende hoogtes gebracht voor het genre.&nbsp;<em>Sting<\/em>&nbsp;slaagt er hierdoor in om zijn setting helemaal tot leven te brengen. Wie evenzeer heel levendig lijkt is de spin zelf. De geslaagde mix van CGI, praktische effecten, camerawerk en geluidsdesign slagen erin om \u00e9\u00e9n van de meest geloofwaardige monsters in het genre te scheppen.
