Hij regisseerde een filmpalmares bijeen om u tegen te zeggen (<em>Funny Games<\/em>, <em>La Pianiste<\/em>, <em>Le Temps De Loup<\/em>, <em>Cach\u00e9<\/em>). Voor zijn geniaal oeuvre sleepte hij al meer dan dertig vermaarde prijzen in de wacht. Kortom, Haneke is een van de intelligentste filmmakers van deze tijd. Dat bewees hij ook met <em>Das Weisse Band<\/em>, een absoluut meesterwerk dat in Cannes werd bekroond met de Gouden Palm en ook nog twee Oscarnominaties in de wacht sleepte.<br><br><br><br><br>De meester trekt in Das Weisse Band, net voor het uitbreken van de Eerste Wereldoorlog, naar een rustig protestants Duits boerendorp waar de verkrampte notabelen de gemeenschap in hun greep houden. De dorpskinderen worden streng en te idealistisch opgevoed. Wanneer de nakomelingen van de plaatselijke dominee iets mispeuteren, bindt hij ze een witte band rond de arm om ze te herinneren aan \u2018basisbegrippen\u2019 als zuiverheid en eerlijkheid. De schoolleraar observeert en onderzoekt de gebeurtenissen en komt stilaan dichter bij de verschrikkelijke waarheid. &nbsp; &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br>Dat het lutheranisme in Duitsland een voedingsbodem was voor het nazisme is geweten, maar Haneke pakt daar niet expliciet mee uit. Hij zet integendeel de kijker heel subtiel aan het denken over de morele staat van de maatschappij en toont uitdrukkelijk (in een schrille doch toepasselijke zwart-wit fotografie) hoe nefast een hypocriete opvoeding voor kinderen is.
