Zonet werden in Hollywood de Oscarnominaties bekendgemaakt en voor ons landje was dat een succes met 2 Belgische nominaties. Zowel de korte animatiefilm Beautiful Men (te bekijken op dalton.be) van Nicolas Keppens als de documentaire Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat (momenteel op VRT Max) zijn bij de gelukkigen.
Emilia Pérez kreeg 13 nominaties en vervoegt zo het lijstje van o.a. Gone with the Wind, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? en Oppenheimer met de op één na meeste nominaties aller tijden. Dit is het hoogste aantal nominaties dat een niet-Engelstalige film ooit heeft ontvangen. De meeste Oscar-nominaties ooit ontvangen door een film is 14, een prestatie gedeeld door All About Eve, Titanic, en La La Land.
The Brutalist en Wicked kregen elk 10 nominaties. Zowel Cynthia Erivo als Ariana Grande ontvingen acteer nominaties. A Complete Unknown verdiende acht nominaties, waaronder James Mangold voor Beste Regisseur en Timothée Chalamet voor Beste Acteur, evenals Monica Barbaro en Edward Norton in de ondersteunende categorieën.
Conclave ontving ook acht nominaties, waaronder voor Ralph Fiennes en Isabella Rossellini in de acteer categorieën. Anora heeft zes nominaties, The Substance en Dune: Part Two hebben er vijf, Nosferatu vier en Sing Sing eindigt op drie.
Voor de tweede keer ooit werd een film genomineerd in zowel Beste Internationale Film als Beste Animatiefilm: Flow volgt zo Flee op.
