In Hollywood werden voor de 96ste keer de Academy Awards a.k.a. Oscars uitgereikt en de cast en crew van Oppenheimer mochten uiteindelijk 7 keer de wandeling naar het podium maken om een prijs in ontvangst te nemen. Christopher Nolan schoot de hoofdvogels af met beste film en beste regisseur. Cillian Murphy en Robert Downey Jr. werden bekroond tot respectievelijk beste acteur in een hoofdrol en bijrol. Onze Noorderbuur Hoyte Van Hoytema won voor beste cinematografie, Jennifer Lame voor beste editing en ook Lüdwig Goransson’s score voor Oppenheimer viel in de smaak.
Poor Things moest uiteindelijk genoegen nemen met 4 awards. Emma Stone won voor haar hoofdrol als Bella Baxter en daarnaast won Yorgos Lanthimos’ film ook voor beste kostuums, beste make-up + haar en beste productie.
The Zone of Interest mocht de beeldjes voor beste internationale film en beste geluid mee naar huis nemen.
Eén van de weinige hoogtepunten van een vrij tamme en dit jaar gelukkig ook vredevolle show was Ryan Gosling met I’m Just Ken. Meer van dat volgend jaar!
